Together to anxiety-free dental treatment - we take our time and plan every step according to your wishes and needs. We are happy to inform and advise you in a first appointment without subsequent dental treatment.
We treat anxious patients at our dental practice in Regensburg with sensitivity, clearly explaining every step of the process – and offering nitrous oxide sedation on request.
Sensitive, considerate and with time
Many people are afraid of going to the dentist or of long sessions, which prevents some from going in for long-overdue treatment. The cause of "dental fear" is usually uncertainty, bad experiences or lack of education.
Patients often have the feeling that they are at the mercy of the doctor who is treating them. This is often because they cannot speak during the treatment and additionally cannot see what the doctor is doing. In addition, they cannot make out the sounds of many devices. This gives them the feeling that they have no control over the situation and creates fear. If other people in the environment have reported traumatic experiences of going to the dentist, this can increase the fear even more. The fear that the dental treatment could be painful leads to real anticipatory anxiety.
We are particularly sensitive to the wishes and needs of patients with dental anxiety. We attach great importance to a relaxed and calm atmosphere in which you as a patient feel well taken care of.
All treatment steps are explained to you before, during and after the treatment. By asking questions during the treatment, we give you the opportunity to pause the treatment briefly to relieve the tension. We take enough time for your dental treatment to avoid unnecessary pressure and stress.
In addition, we offer all treatment steps in laughing gas sedation with modern technology and trained staff in our practice.
From treatment preparation to treatment completion
Before treatment, we first measure the patient's blood pressure. We put on a pulse oximeter so that we can regularly check the pulse and the oxygen saturation of the blood during the treatment.
A mask that is optimally suited for the patient is selected and applied. A mixture of laughing gas and oxygen is now administered to the patient via this mask. Initially, the laughing gas concentration is gradually increased and checked until the full effect is achieved.
When the patient feels relaxed, the actual dental treatment takes place. When finished, the nitrous oxide level is adjusted down and the patient is ventilated with pure oxygen for a few more minutes to make sure that all nitrous oxide has been exhaled. When the patient feels ready, they are allowed to get up and leave the practice.
Laughing gas is inhaled through the lungs and then released into the blood. Its effect then unfolds in the central nervous system. 99% of the nitrous oxide is then exhaled again through the lungs.
Laughing gas has a calming, relaxing and anxiety-reducing effect on the patient during treatment. The sense of time becomes blurred, so that the treatment is usually felt to be shorter.
Throughout sedation, the patient remains awake, responsive and still in control.
Laughing gas can be used for almost any type of treatment, and there are few patients for whom laughing gas cannot be used due to general medical conditions.
If you are interested in a treatment under laughing gas sedation, please contact us! We will then discuss with you individually whether laughing gas sedation can be considered.
Sedation using laughing gas is a purely private service and is not covered by statutory health insurance. The costs for a treatment under nitrous oxide depend on the duration of the treatment.
Please contact us so that we can provide you with a personal cost estimate.
Yes. At our dental practice in Regensburg, we can only talk, explain and plan during the first appointment – without providing any direct treatment. This way, you know exactly what will be done and remain in control.
Yes, that is possible. Especially if you are afraid of the dentist, having a familiar person accompany you can help you feel more secure. Just let us know in advance.
Yes. We tell you in advance when anaesthesia will be necessary and administer it as gently as possible. With nitrous oxide, injections are much easier for many patients to tolerate.
Yes. We announce each step of the treatment and ask for your feedback. If you give us a signal, we will pause briefly. This allows you to remain in control and means you don't have to “endure” anything.
Then we stop. We work with clear signals so that you can make yourself known. The calm atmosphere and the announced steps usually help to quickly reduce tension.
Before treatment, we first measure the patient's blood pressure. We attach a pulse oximeter so that we can regularly check the patient's pulse and blood oxygen saturation during treatment. Then, a nasal mask that fits the patient perfectly is selected and put on. A mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen is now administered to the patient through this mask. At the beginning, the nitrous oxide concentration is gradually increased and checked until the effect is fully developed. Once the patient feels relaxed, the actual dental treatment is carried out. After completion, the nitrous oxide content is reduced and the patient is supplied with pure oxygen for a few minutes to ensure that all nitrous oxide has been exhaled. When the patient feels ready, they may get up and leave the practice.
Yes. You remain awake, able to respond and in control. This is precisely why nitrous oxide is well suited for anxious patients.
The nitrous oxide is absorbed through the lungs and 99% of it is exhaled through the lungs. We monitor your vital signs throughout the entire procedure. There are only a few cases of general illnesses in which nitrous oxide should not be used – we will discuss this with you beforehand.
Nitrous oxide can be used for almost any type of dental treatment – especially if you are very tense or have long appointments ahead of you.
